New Strategy, Smart Budget and Classy Governance Pekanbaru, 25 February 2025 – Riau University's Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) held a 2026 Planning and Budgeting Work Meeting with the theme "Improving Institutional Governance through Digital Transformation". This activity took place at the Tourism Travel Business Study Program Laboratory, from 08.00 to 16.00 WIB.   The working meeting was attended by the Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs, Dr. Auradian Marta, S.IP.  M.A., Deputy Dean for General Affairs and Finance Dr. Mayarni, S.Sos., M.Si., Deputy Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni and Cooperation Dr. Saiman Pakpahan, S.IP., M.Si., Chairman of the Senate/Secretary, Head of Department/Department Secretary, Head of Undergraduate, Master's and Doctoral Study Programs in the FISIP environment, Head of the FISIP Branch Library, Chair of the SPMF, Head of the Laboratory, Chair of the FISIP PPID, Chair of the MBKM Acceleration Team, Chair of the FISIP International Accreditation Acceleration Team, Administrative Coordinator, Sub.Coordinator in the FISIP environment, BPP FISIP, PPK FISIP. Dean of FISIP, Riau University, Dr. Meyzi Heriyanto, S.Sos., M.Sc., in his speech emphasized the importance of improving digital-based institutional governance as a strategic step in academic management and budget efficiency. "In the era of digitalization, we are required to be more adaptive and innovative. This working meeting is a momentum for us to evaluate achievements, develop better strategies, and ensure that FISIP, Riau University is increasingly superior in institutional governance," said Dr. Meyzi.

The Chancellor of Riau University, Prof. Dr. Sri Indarti, S.E., M.Si., who in this case was represented by the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Dr. Mexsasai Indra, S.H. M.H., also gave a speech and officially opened this working meeting. In his speech, Dr. Mexsasai appreciated FISIP's initiative in designing digital transformation-based planning. "Riau University continues to be committed to improving academic quality and institutional governance. Digital transformation is an important step that we must take together so that education, research, and community service are more effective and efficient," said Dr. Mexsasai.

FISIP Universitas Riau also strengthens its commitment to vulnerable groups by signing a strategic partnership with Yayasan Insan Berguna Nusantara (IBNU), a foundation established and dedicated to people with disabilities with a vision of empowering and supporting the independence of people with disabilities, fostering self-confidence, having noble morals, and increasing self-competence so that they have equal opportunities and equality in society as an effort to improve the quality of life of people with disabilities.

As part of the agenda, this working meeting presented Mr. Novan Aulia Rohman, S.Kom., M.M., from Jember University, as the main speaker. In his presentation, Novan provided insight into the importance of implementing digital technology in institutional governance, especially in planning and budgeting in higher education institutions. "Digital transformation is not only about the use of technology, but also how we change our mindset and work patterns to be more efficient, transparent, and results-oriented," explained Novan.

After the presentation session, the working meeting continued with an evaluation of the study program's performance achievements in 2024 and the determination of performance targets for 2025. Interactive discussions on budget allocation strategies were also an important part of this agenda, to ensure the effectiveness of the use of funds to support the achievement of the faculty's academic and operational targets.

With the holding of this working meeting, it is hoped that FISIP Universitas Riau will be increasingly ready to develop institutional governance that is adaptive to developments in the era and is able to increase academic competitiveness at the national and international levels. (RIRY)
